Bhagavad Gita

I feel like Arjuna in that I don’t want to go to cross country and run, but afterward I feel good and I am glad that I did it. Usually beforehand I don’t feel like exercising but I know it’s good for me and I should do it. The 21st Century American views doing ones duty as something that has to be done whether you want to or not. An ancient Indian would try to understand why they have to do the duty and would realize that their god wanted them to do it so it can’t be something bad. The Bhagavad Gita could be used as a tool of oppression by a wealthy person or a general to convince his peasants that even if they didn’t want to work or fight for him, it was the gods will and they would understand later.

Feng Shui

I had a lot of stuff on the floor of my room so I tried to clean it up and organize it. I usually just throw my book bag on the ground but it makes my room messy so I put my bag and clothes away. It definitely was a nice change and I’m hoping my room stays this way. I feel that being in my room is more comfortable and relaxing now that it is clean.

Taoist Walk

I didn’t have my phone on the walk so here is a picture I took at Alum Creek this weekend.

The most powerful sensation was the cold wind in the trees. The walk was very different from the other times I had been on the trail, which were for cross country practice and races. The relaxing, peaceful walk was a completely new way to experience a trail I had been on many times. I could hear the leaves rustling in the wind and smell the cool fall air. The experience could be compared to Taoism because we were trying to be in tune with nature.
